At The Yard for a No-No: Homer Bailey Pitches No-hitter for Reds.

Every so often during the middle of a week, I love to wander down to Great American Ballpark to catch a game. I love going with my family the most - but sometimes just going by myself is a pretty zen experience, so to speak. I can just lock in and enjoy baseball for a few hours and get lost in the moment. And sometimes those moments are way more than I could have expected.

This particular night it happened to be Homer Bailey pitching for the Reds, taking on the San Francisco Giants. It was a nice July night, perfect for a ballgame. Truth be told, I think every night is perfect for a ballgame. I was excited for the next few hours just to relax and watch. Who knew the game would turn out to be such a thrill?

Always save the stubs!

What the heck is a Fielder’s Choice?!?!

The game was getting exciting, as heading into the 7th inning, Homer was still in line for a no-hitter.

As Homer dealt the payoff pitch, a collective groan of frustration erupted into a mix of disappointment and disbelief. The Reds faithful were all convinced, myself included, that the pitch was a strike and the batter was out. Although we were all bummed for a moment, the no-no was still intact.

Stay tuned for the rest of the story!

Definitely one of the best ballpark moments I have been part of. The place was electric, and we were glued to every pitch Homer threw. It was awesome.
